EGI has been at the very forefront in promoting menstrual health in rural parts of Kenya. With our monthly pad drives and donations, over 1,500 women and girls have benefited from the distribution of reusable sanitary towels (Dignity-Kits) as well as partnering with local manufacturers in distributing subsidized high-quality sanitary towels. These projects have contributed greatly to lowering female truancy rates in Tharaka Nithi and protecting women from sexual exploitative transactions that had been rampant as many women and girls cannot afford sanitary products.
