Baby Princess Nkatha

This sad story began when Lorraine, 21 years old came to our offices requesting assistance with funds for an urgent medical procedure for her ailing baby after a friend of hers gave her our Executive Director’s contacts.

Baby Princess Neema Nkatha was born with Cerebral Palsy. In March 2022, she got unwell and was taken to the hospital was given an intravenous injection of a drug that later caused an Adverse Drug Reaction which necessitated her immediate transfer to Kenyatta National Hospital. On admittance, 4-year-old Baby Princess a Magnetic Resonance Imaging [MRI] was required in order to proceed with further treatment. Through Enlighted Generation International and our partners, Lorraine was able to pay Ksh15,000 for the MRI. After the MRI test, she was seen to have brain damage.

Unfortunately, she passed away a month later leaving an accruing bill of KSH 220,000 inclusive of a growing mortuary bill. Once again, EGI stepped in and hosted an online fundraiser to assist the family who at this point were financially and emotionally drained. Her burial was on 3rd May 2022 when she was laid to rest at her mother’s home in Ukuruni Village near Chogoria. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
